If you all didn't know yesterday I turned 27 years old! I know, I know, 27 is not deemed as one of those trade mark great birthdays, but I made it to see 27! It doesn't seem that exciting until you think about those who didn't get to see their 27th birthday, so yeah 27 is a big deal! Yesterday I was overwhelmed with happiness, the amount of love that went into planning my party was top notch! My family and friends really came together to throw me the best "Surprise/Not Surprise" birthday party ever, I told them I wanted to go to India and that's where I went. No I didn't technically leave the country, but the way they had that apartment set up, you could have fooled me! My senses were taken over, It looked, smelled and tasted like India, no pun intended. (Food catered from Taste of India) They had Indian music playing in the background and that may seem little, but if you know my friends they're not really into music from around the world like I am. I have been told on more then one occasion to put my headphones on, do I listen, um sometimes. Here's the kicker, they even liked it! It was a very memorable night, one I'll never forget. Though all my friends couldn't physically be there, I made sure to send them plenty of videos to enjoy the festivities with me. One thing to know about me is that if I got nothing for my birthday but all my friends together I wouldn't need anything else, but since that's kind of a tall order these days, I'll except all their gifts instead! Birthday traditions are changing within my group of friends, most are married now with families of their own or just far away. I know we all have to grow up one day and venture on our own, I just didn't know it was going to be this hard to do without them. I hate change, I really do, it's inconvenient, but it's needed for growth and I'm not one to get left behind. If my birthday this year has showed me anything its that no matter how far apart we are or even if we're in the same town there's still someone out there that loves me and glad God let me see another year! my birthday has given me a head start on my New Year's Resolution, but you'll have to wait my next installment of Just Being Ketra for that!
